Identification and age requirements for receiving a body piercing
Thank you for considering our studio for all of your piercing needs! As a courtesy we have provided details regarding studio policy and state law to any person(s) looking to receive a piercing.
Disclaimer: Please note that these requirements are sanctioned by law, and not solely the policy of Enigma Professional Piercing Studios.
For childrens earlobes, we start at 8 years old. We are currently unable to regularly offer infant earlobe piercings but do encourage you to call ahead or email our shop manager with questions or inquiries relating to such.
The studio is only available to offer surface piercings to 18+ clients as well as all genital and nipple services. Tongue services will be reserved for 16+ clients. For services other than earlobes, 14 years old is the minimum age we are able to pierce.

At Enigma we follow all state and county laws requiring proper identification prior to receiving services.
California state law requires person(s) getting pierced bring state or government issued photo ID (ie passport, entry card or state issued drivers license.) This ID must be valid form of identification and cannot be expired. Certain exceptions for minors are listed below.
As a friendly reminder: the studio CANNOT use military ID as substitution for picture identification per federal law. Since it is required for the studio to keep identification on file for those receiving piercing services with the health department we cannot accept pictures or photocopies of military identification. Section 701 of 18 U.S.C. prohibits photographing or otherwise reproducing or possessing DoD ID cards in an unauthorized manner.
Minors may receive piercings with parental consent. Any clients under the age of 18 are required to have a parent or court appointed legal guardian present with appropriate paperwork. Below you will find appropriate examples of what is required to receive service. Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding this policy.
ID requirements for minors receiving services with parental consent:
Parent must be present with photo ID.
For minors age 8-12:
A birth certificate alone may be used or
A passport or entry card if address and last name matches that of the parent
For minors age 13-17:
Minor must have valid photo ID (state ID, drivers license, passport, or entry card). If the address and last name is not listed on the document and/or does not match that of parent, a birth certificate is required or
School ID from current school year along with a birth certificate is an acceptable form of ID from minor. Both are required for this option.
An affidavit, custodial agreement, or current guardianship paperwork are required if you are signing on behalf of a minor as their legal guardian.
Please note that these are required by law, and not solely the policy of Enigma Professional Piercing Studios.
